Welcome to Vilu Reef

Sun Siyam Vilu Reef is a pocket of paradise, the kind of place you discover and want to keep secret. It possesses one of the country’s most spectacular reefs (it’s no coincidence that ‘Reef’ appears in the name), and its smaller size makes it easy to navigate.

Island-to-Fork Dining

Indulge in a vibrant array of delicious and thoughtfully crafted plant-based dishes that celebrate the rich bounty of local ingredients - many of which are sourced from the organic farm on the neighbouring Llohi Island. It’s an evolution that caters to the growing demand for greener dining, and underscores our commitment to the preservation of the Maldivian paradise that surrounds us.

A Taste of the Authentic

Sun Siyam Vilu Reef is the very first resort that Mr Ahmed Siyam, the visionary founder, opened in the Maldives back in 1998. To put in context, the first resort to open in the Maldives wasn’t until the early 70s! What a time that must have been… Vilu Reef retains some of that early day magic and, to this day, embodies the incredible spirit of its island origins.

House Reef & Wildlife

Dive into a lagoon so blue it doesn’t look real, and swim to the ‘house reef’, one of the country’s most spectacular reefs (it’s no coincidence the word appears in the name of the hotel). At golden hour, race to the beach in time to watch the rays flutter and glide at the water’s edge. It is unlike anything you have ever seen.

Secret Sundowner

At golden hour, head off on a hunt to find the creatively styled, secret pop-up bar in its ever-changing clandestine location for a sundowner. The quest perfectly encapsulates Sun Siyam’s dedication to filling every stay with delightful surprises.

Useful Information

For some, planning the trip is their favourite part of the journey. For others, not so much. Either way, we gathered the most popular questions to give you the answers you are looking for.

You may check in as from 14:00.

Check-out is as noon on the day of departure.
You may choose between Bed and Breakfast, Half Board, Full Board and All Inclusive. There is something for everyone. Please get in touch with us for more details on what is included.
You are at a resort in the Maldives so we don’t expect a tuxedo or a ski suit. While sandy toes do equate to relaxation, some of our fine-dining restaurants are a chance to dress up a little. You will find more information in the Restaurant pages.
We have a strict ‘No Drone’ policy, outlined below:
We prohibit the operation of unmanned aerial systems or drones, on or above the resort by any of our guests or employees, including model aircraft by recreational users. This includes drones used for filming or videotaping, as well as drones used by media or journalists operating above or within the resort area boundaries. This prohibition extends to any devices launched or operated from the property, as well as any launched from private property outside of the resort area boundaries.

Occasionally, Sun Siyam Resorts may use a drone for commercial purposes. In these instances, we do our utmost to protect our guests’ privacy and peace.

Our rates exclude applicable taxes and service charges. There is a 17% Goods & Services tax, a 10% Service Charge, and a Green Tax set a USD 12 per guest per day.

The Island

Fun fact: The Maldives is the flattest and lowest country on the planet, with an average elevation of just 1.5 metres above sea level.
